Absolute were tasked with unifying Royal Birkdale's online and offline communications, to emphasise their 100 years worth of history and tradition as one of Britain’s finest golf courses.
The website gives visitors a rich experience of the Open Championship course which was voted number one course in Britain.
Users can explore an interactive map of the whole course where each hole is shown in detail with photo galleries and professional tips on how to play. We even organised for fly-over video footage to be shot for each hole using a helicopter! As well as a detailed hole-by-hole guide to prepare visitors for the challenging links course, users are given up-to-date weather information, a detailed tour of the Birkdale Clubhouse, and the ability to book a golf day or tee time via the website.
Absolute also designed and produced the printed Royal Birkdale Yearbook. The yearbook features articles on the history of the club, and retrospectives about the legendary Lee Trevino. Exclusive interviews were conducted with golfing luminaries Justin Rose and the 2010 Ricoh Women’s Champion, Yani Tseng. Whilst being a great resource about all things Birkdale, we also included articles on how to improve your game, from which driver to choose to photo guides on how to properly negotiate the always-tricky bunker shot.
Our team produced this finished keepsake from front to back. Not only did we design a brand new look and feel, we did the copywriting and on-site photography, organised all the articles, advertising and interviews, and also fully managed the project and printing though to delivery.
