Beckett Investment Website

beckett-ipad

We have recently launched a new website for our client Beckett Investment. As one of the largest regional providers of independent financial advice in East Anglia it was imperative that their web presence reflected their expertise.

Their current site had become a little dated and clearly needed a rethink when it came to delivering the right content. We created the new site starting with a fresh sitemap and a reworked navigation structure allowing users easy access to services, and clear signposting to encourage more enquiries direct to their specialists.

Working in Tandem with Intel

alt

We have enjoyed a great relationship with Intel since working with them on the creation of a bespoke infographic to illustrate the growth of embedded internet.

We were recently contacted by the company to get involved with the design of their Team Intel cycling kits, creating an on-brand jersey which would be worn by the team this season in several events.

Its all part of the process

process-poster-blog

A lot of people don’t see what goes on behind the scenes at The Chapel (most of the time this is a good thing!). Yes everyone is working hard but only a small proportion of the time is spent on the ‘pretty pictures’ part of the design. A lot of hard work goes on well before we got to this stage.
As part of a recent pitch we sat down with several large pieces of paper and wrote out the process to get a website from sign off to launch, and beyond. Although this is something we do everyday seeing it as a list was pretty amazing!
Obviously we don’t want to give away all our trade secrets so below is an overview, to find out about the finer details please give us a call and we’ll be happy to talk you through it.
If we are pitching for the project the work begins here – the build up to a pitch can vary but it will often involve mocking up wireframes and suggesting a look and feel, ie missing out the all important planning stages. This is something that gets Wayne on his soap box – but that’s another story, we do what we have to do!
Planning and research
Once budget is agreed we will provide a more detailed spec for the project, this will include sitting down with you to discuss the aims of the website, this involves customer surveys and workshops. At a recent workshop for a school a pupil requested bike routes for his journey, that kind of insight is invaluable and not something we would necessarily think of.
Information Architecture
We inspect your websites content and the approach used to deliver it to a user. This approach gives them a better user experience, making them more likely to convert into customers, or advocates of your brand. The wireframes help us organise the page structure, and hierarchy of information - without getting distracted by pretty pictures!
Site maps
From the workshops and research we will create a site map which will determine the structure of your website. We will have created a rough version to help the initial estimate for the job but this is the version that has been created as a team and will form the backbone for the project going forward.
Artwork and feedback
Here comes the fun part. We work with you and your feedback to turn the initial concepts and wireframes into reality. Our design team have an excellent understanding of what makes a website tick.
Technical Build
Once you are happy with the structure and the way your site looks, our team of technical wizards create the underlying code that makes your website actually work, by using semantic HTML and CSS. We will provide you with a test link so you can see the development in progress, this is when you can see you website come to life.
Training & Support
Now the site is built training is provided so that you can manage the website yourself. We provide full support and aim to respond to any user questions or technical issues immediately.
Online Marketing & PR/SEO
Our aim is to help you generate more business with increased return on investment, to achieve the results you want and need. If required we will plan a marketing and SEO strategy to roll out when the project launches.
The process works for projects in any media and we go through the same amount of planning and preparation for a branding or print project. It’s just what we do!

Getting cosy with Rowton Hall

We are really happy to announce that Absolute have won a 6 way pitch to look after the digital identity, branding and marketing for Rowton Hall Hotel & Spa.
Rowton Hall is a family owned and run hotel set in leafy surroundings near Chester. As well as being a well known venue for lavish weddings, Rowton Hall also boasts a spa, health club, conferencing facilities, award winning restaurant and rooms individually decorated with their own unique style.
Absolute were chosen to help the team at Rowton with a new marketing strategy to help shout about how great they are! The first phase of this process will involve a lot of work on the brand strategy and their position in the marketplace, with a new website following closely behind. We are all excited about this project as it has so much scope, and we feel we can have a real effect on many aspects of the business.
We’re so pleased to be working with Rowton Hall, it’s a great venue with a very passionate team. We’ve just completed a two day photoshoot and we all feel like part of the Rowton family now! We can see a great future with this client.
Keep an eye on the blog to see how this project comes together over the coming weeks.

Job Tips - The Do's and Dont's

alt

It's that time of year again when students have just graduated from University and are looking for their first break into the design world, I remember 2 years ago when I was in the same boat. It can be a scary thought, being out in the real world, and feeling that sense of pressure at trying to find that job you have been dreaming of for the last 3 or so years. However it isn't an impossible task, trust me.

Some of you might get lucky and get a job off the back of your degree show, or from a placement you did over the summer. However if you didn't, don't worry. That illusive job is out there for you, it might just take a bit longer to get. I actually got my job as a designer at Absolute from doing a summer placement there 2 years prior, and just kept in touch.
